Meet Mallory

Hi there, I'm Mallory, and I'm behind Roaming the Southwest. I'm a photographer and Southwest travel content creator with more than a decade of experience exploring Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico.

I specialize in realistic Southwest road trip itineraries, hiking guides, and travel planning advice to help you plan a seamless trip. Every recommendation I share is based on places I've personally explored, from iconic National Parks to lesser-known trails, scenic drives, and unique stays throughout the Southwest.

Colorado is a huge part of what I cover, especially the San Juan Mountains and Western Colorado. Fall is something I plan my entire year around, and you'll find a big focus here on Colorado fall colors, including peak timing, scenic drives, photography locations, and trip planning.

When I'm not out exploring with my husband and daughter, I work full-time as a Critical Care Pharmacist. That background shapes how I approach travel, with an emphasis on planning, safety, and evidence-based information so you can feel confident every step of your trip.

I'm also deeply passionate about responsible travel, public lands education, and protecting the places we explore. You'll find a strong emphasis on mindful recreation, Leave No Trace principles, and experiencing these landscapes with respect.
