Meet Mallory

Hi There, I'm Mallory
...and I'm behind Roaming the Southwest. I’m a photographer and Southwest travel content creator based in Western Colorado, with easy access to the San Juan Mountains, Moab, and the Desert Southwest — including Utah’s National Parks, Arizona, and New Mexico. Fall in Colorado is something I plan my entire year around, and you’ll find a big focus on chasing peak color across the state each season.
I specialize in sharing realistic itineraries and Southwest hiking guides, along with travel planning advice to help you plan a seamless trip. Every recommendation I provide is based on places I’ve personally explored — from iconic National Parks to lesser-known trails, scenic drives, and unique stays throughout the region.
When I’m not out exploring with my husband and daughter, I work full-time as a Critical Care Pharmacist. That background shapes how I approach travel — with a focus on planning, safety, and thoughtful decision-making so you can feel confident every step of your trip.
I’m deeply passionate about responsible travel, public lands education, and protecting the places we explore. You’ll find a strong emphasis on mindful recreation, Leave No Trace principles, and visiting these landscapes with respect.
Whether you’re planning your first Southwest road trip or looking for your next hike, my goal is to help you experience the region with confidence — and leave it better than you found it.
See you out there!
